Expert Trucking FAQ

Everything you need to know about maintaining and buying your next Non-CDL box truck.

With proper maintenance, these engines are built for longevity:

  • Freightliner M2 (Cummins ISB 6.7L): 600,000–700,000+ miles.
  • Hino 268 (Hino J08E): 700,000+ miles with good care.

The Hino 268 generally edges out with better MPG in urban delivery (8–11 MPG). The Freightliner M2 (7–10 MPG) shines with heavier loads or highway runs due to its Cummins power.

Use API CK-4 certified oil. Freightliner (Cummins): 15W-40 or 10W-30 (Shell Rotella T6/Valvoline). Hino 268: 15W-40 or 10W-30 (Stick to trusted brands).

  • Oil & Filter: Every 7,000–10,000 miles.
  • Fuel Filters: Every 15,000–30,000 miles.
  • Major Services: Every 20,000–40,000 miles.

Leaf Spring: Simple, durable, and cost-effective for heavy loads. Air Suspension: Smoother ride, protects fragile cargo, but higher maintenance cost.

Any ISO 22241 / API-certified brand. Peak BlueDEF is the most popular choice. Avoid non-certified fluid to prevent SCR damage.

DOT requires 4/32" depth for steers and 2/32" for drives. We recommend replacing at 4/32" for safety, or if tires are 6+ years old.

Don't ignore it. Scan the code immediately. Common issues include DEF sensors or DPF filters. Early action prevents "derate mode" (power loss).

Business: No, you can buy personally, but LLCs are recommended for financing. CDL: No, our 26ft models (GVWR ≤26k) only require a standard Class D/E license.
